Influence // 2008 // Touchstone Theatre

Influence explores the relationship of the artist and the muse. Set in 1816 London angry Greek gods take
human form to reclaim their sculpted images taken from the Parthenon to the British Museum. There they meet and bewitch the poet John Keats and his mentor Benjamin Robert Haydon.

Written from the viewpoint of where art meets politics this is the intriguing storyline of Influence by Janet
Munsil.

Corridor staging placed the audience in the role of judges weighing the arguments and ideas put forward
by both Gods and mortals. At the moment when the gods display their powers shafts of light emanate from within the hitherto solid pedestals and illuminate the sculptures.
